VEGCAT Pure Bites has been awarded “Best Vegan Cat Treat” at the PETA Vegan Awards 2026, marking a milestone for the brand’s first-ever feline product. Already well established in the dog food segment, the company celebrates this recognition as external validation of its scientific approach and its commitment to rethinking nutrition for dogs and cats.
Developing a vegan cat treat was met with scepticism from the start. “Many people shook their heads when we said we were working on a vegan cat snack,” the company recalls. After two years of research, VEGCAT chose fermentation protein, an ingredient that provides high‑quality nutrients and digestible, bioavailable proteins for cats — all without animal-derived components.
The company notes that similar scepticism surrounded its beginnings in the dog food market, where its products are now firmly established. For this reason, the recognition from PETA carries particular weight: it confirms that VEGCAT’s approach works technically, commercially and at scale.
“Health and animal welfare for dogs and cats can be reimagined through science,” the company states, emphasising that this award reinforces its mission to innovate with responsible, evidence-based nutritional alternatives.
VEGCAT expressed its gratitude to PETA Deutschland e.V. for the distinction.
