Royal Canin presents an article on healthy ageing in dogs and cats

Royal Canin has announced the acceptance for publication of its paper “Aging is modifiable: current perspectives on healthy aging in companion dogs and cats” in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA Journals), where a preliminary version is now available.

The work was carried out by the Healthy Aging Scientific Advisory Board, a group of international specialists brought together by Royal Canin and the Waltham Petcare Science Institute. This group reviewed the available literature on canine and feline ageing and defined what is meant by “healthy ageing” in companion animals.

The initiative has also prompted new lines of research, including a collaboration with North Carolina State University to design a tool for monitoring physical function in dogs, aimed at facilitating earlier detection of age-related changes and supporting more tailored interventions.
