The Montenegro International Veterinary Congress has officially announced its 22nd edition, taking place on 9–10 October 2026 at Europarque, Santa Maria da Feira, near Porto, Portugal.
Recognised as the leading veterinary congress in the Iberian Peninsula, the congress has established itself as one of Southern Europe’s most important veterinary events, bringing together veterinarians, veterinary nurses, researchers, students and industry leaders for two days dedicated to scientific excellence, innovation and professional networking.
Built around the theme “Knowledge. Science. Community.”, the congress offers a multidisciplinary programme designed to connect the latest scientific evidence with everyday clinical practice. Delegates will have the opportunity to learn from internationally recognised experts, participate in discussions on the future of veterinary medicine and discover the latest innovations presented by leading companies in the animal health sector.
The 2026 scientific programme will feature internationally renowned speakers including Dr. Sue Ettinger (USA), one of the world’s foremost veterinary oncologists; Prof. Alain Fontbonne (France), recognised internationally for his work in animal reproduction; Dr. Adam Mugford (United Kingdom), Dr. Luis Feo (Spain) and Dr. Sara Longo (Italy), together with more than 50 national and international specialists.
Across more than 70 scientific sessions, the congress will cover a broad spectrum of topics including oncology, internal medicine, surgery, neurology, feline medicine, anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging, reproduction, veterinary nursing, communication, practice management and emerging technologies. The full scientific programme and speaker line-up are available on the official congress website.
Alongside the scientific programme, the congress will host one of the largest veterinary exhibitions in Southern Europe, providing an opportunity for delegates to explore the latest products, technologies and services while connecting with companies, institutions and colleagues from across the veterinary sector.
The previous edition welcomed 3,872 participants, including 1,831 veterinarians, 510 veterinary nurses, 652 veterinary students, 422 exhibitors and sponsors, and 51 speakers, confirming its growing international profile and its role as a reference event for the veterinary profession.
Registration is now open, and veterinary professionals from around the world are invited to join two days of world-class education, collaboration and networking in Portugal.
