Burgess completes acquisition of Bunny Nature and boosts international growth

Burgess Pet Care, the Goole‑based pet food manufacturer, has announced the acquisition of German small‑animal nutrition brand Bunny Nature, marking the company’s largest international deal to date. The transaction, completed through an asset purchase, increases Burgess’ international revenues five‑fold to £12.5 million, strengthening its position in the global pet care market.

Founded in 1988, Bunny Nature has built a strong distribution network across the EU, North America and Asia, giving Burgess immediate access to a wider customer base and supporting its strategy to scale internationally. The company plans to maintain Bunny Nature as a distinct brand, preserving its German identity, product quality and established customer relationships. Existing senior leadership teams will remain in place.

Burgess highlights that the partnership will accelerate innovation by combining expertise and establishing an operational platform within mainland Europe, enabling further global expansion. The acquisition follows recent investments in natural dog food brand Green Pantry and fresh dog food subscription business Tuggs.

With this move, Burgess aims to build a truly global small‑animal nutrition company, backed by shared values around animal welfare, high‑quality products and long‑term commitment to the sector.
