Honkajoki Oy introduces Meatybind as a new functional protein for pet food

The Finnish ingredient supplier Honkajoki Oy has announced the development of Meatybind, a next‑generation functional protein. The company highlights that manufacturers are increasingly seeking sustainable, high‑performance binders that maintain texture, nutritional quality and processing stability. Meatybind aims to meet these needs through a formulation derived from food‑grade poultry side streams.

According to Honkajoki Oy, Meatybind provides both structural functionality and nutritional value, thanks to its balanced amino acid profile and its collagen‑ and gelatin‑based binding capacity. With around 80% protein, high digestibility and low ash content, the ingredient is positioned as a versatile solution for wet dog and cat food, high‑meat extruded diets and premium formulations targeting clean‑label claims.

The company has now begun producing the first batches of Meatybind, marking the transition from development to early industrial availability. This initial production phase allows manufacturers to start evaluating the ingredient’s performance in wet and dry pet food applications.

By valorising poultry co‑products, Meatybind also supports circular economy principles, reducing waste and improving resource efficiency. Manufacturers interested in updates on product availability can register their contact details through the company’s communication channels.
