AVEPA highlights a new national initiative to promote animal welfare and the human–animal bond

AVEPA, the Spanish Association of Small Animals Veterinarians, has highlighted the launch of a new national initiative led by the Dingonatura Foundation to recognise impactful projects across the animal welfare sector. The programme includes the first edition of the “Bonds that Give Life” Awards, created to support and give visibility to initiatives that strengthen the human–animal bond and generate measurable benefits for animals, people, and communities.

The awards are divided into four categories, reflecting the broad range of organisations and professionals contributing to animal welfare in Spain. The “Caring Changes Lives” category is aimed at associations dedicated to protection, rescue, and long‑term support. “Innovating to Protect” recognises veterinarians, researchers, start‑ups, and technology‑driven projects developing solutions that improve animal welfare. “Municipalities that Embrace” rewards local authorities implementing responsible pet ownership policies and public strategies that enhance coexistence. Finally, “The Bond that Transforms” highlights initiatives where the human–animal relationship acts as a driver of social, therapeutic, or community change.

Applications are open until 1 July, and the full guidelines can be accessed through the link provided by the organisers. With this initiative, AVEPA reinforces the importance of promoting projects that elevate the role of veterinary professionals and contribute to the advancement of animal welfare nationwide.
