Scamp & Paw completes first industrial trial of dry pet food made with Norway Lobster

UK‑based comapny Scamp & Paw has successfully completed its first industrial‑scale production trial of a dry pet food formulated with Norway Lobster (Nephrops norvegicus)**, marking a notable innovation in the use of marine ingredients within the pet food sector. The company highlights this development as a world first, demonstrating the technical feasibility of incorporating this species (commonly known as scampi) into extruded formulations.

The trial validated key processing parameters, including mix stability, protein integrity, and kibble structure, overcoming challenges typically associated with the lipid profile and thermal sensitivity of Norway Lobster. According to Scamp & Paw, the results confirm that the ingredient can be processed at industrial scale without compromising nutritional quality or physical performance of the final product.

To advance the next phase of development, the company has launched a pilot sampling program aimed at manufacturers, formulators, distributors, and other industry stakeholders. Participants can register at scampandpaw.co.uk, where Scamp & Paw will continue to share updates on formulation optimisation, process refinement, and upcoming development milestones.
