Cargill reaffirms pet food commitment with EpiCor Postbiotic

Cargill continues to strengthen its presence in the pet functional ingredients segment with EpiCor Postbiotic, an ingredient designed for use in complete diets, treats, and nutraceuticals for dogs and cats.

This highly concentrated postbiotic has a recommended daily dose of 7 mg per kilogram of body weight, allowing manufacturers to formulate products with scientifically supported benefits for healthy animals, including immune support, gut and digestive health, bad breath control, and, more recently, skin health. Its yeast-derived origin also provides an appealing palatability profile for pets.

Unlike live probiotics, EpiCor does not rely on active microorganisms to deliver its effects, making it easy to incorporate into any format or manufacturing process, without restrictions related to temperature or processing conditions. The ingredient is available in both human food–grade and EU‑authorized feed‑grade versions, a combination that aligns with growing consumer demand for products backed by clear scientific evidence.
