EPO at CIPIC 2026 – Addressing the changing regulatory environment in Europe

The European Pet Organization (EPO) will participate in the second China’s International Pet Industry Convention (CIPIC), taking place on 11 November 2026 in Guangzhou, China, ahead of the 30th edition of the China International Pet Show (CIPS).

During the event, EPO President Svein A. Fosså will deliver a presentation entitled “The Changing Regulatory Environment in Europe: Implications for the Global Pet Sector””, focusing on the ongoing evolution of European legislation and its impact on the international pet industry.

The presentation will examine key regulatory developments within the European Union in areas such as animal welfare, responsible pet ownership, and the trade and sourcing of companion animals. According to the organisation, many of these legislative initiatives are increasingly influencing businesses and stakeholders beyond Europe’s borders, creating implications for the wider global pet sector.

Through its participation, EPO aims to bring the European pet industry’s perspective into international discussions surrounding regulation and sector development. The organisation will also highlight the importance of science-based, proportionate and practical regulatory frameworks that support animal welfare, responsible trade and the sustainable growth of the industry.

CIPIC brings together industry representatives, associations and stakeholders from across the global pet sector. For EPO, the event provides an opportunity to strengthen international dialogue and cooperation at a time when regulatory scrutiny and policy developments are becoming increasingly important for businesses operating in the companion animal market.
