The pet food packaging recycling initiative led by Animo Impact is gaining momentum across veterinary clinics in France, where empty kibble bags are now being transformed into useful products for animal care. Through the collaboration between Hill’s Pet Nutrition France, Animo Impact and the veterinary cooperative Centravet, an everyday waste stream becomes litter trays, scoops and transport crates—reducing plastic pollution and encouraging more responsible practices across the sector.
The system is simple and fully operational from day one: pet owners drop off their empty bags in the collection box installed at the clinic; Centravet manages transport through its distribution network; and Animo Impact applies its recycling technology to convert the recovered plastic into new products. Part of this production is sold in clinics, while another portion is donated to shelters and animal welfare organisations, strengthening the social impact of the programme.
The strength of this initiative lies in the combination of technical innovation and professional mobilisation. Hill’s contributes its commitment as a pet food manufacturer; Animo Impact leads the material transformation and engages the veterinary community; and Centravet integrates logistics and distribution to make recycling accessible, efficient and scalable. Together, they show that circularity in pet food is achievable when the entire value chain moves in the same direction.
