Cotecnica completes acquisition of Life Pet Care

Cotecnica, the Spanish agri‑food cooperative behind the Ownat brand, has completed the acquisition of Italian company Life Pet Care S.r.l., marking a significant step in its international growth strategy. With this move, the Bellpuig‑based cooperative establishes a direct presence in Italy through Life Pet Care’s commercial network. The Italian firm closed 2025 with €40 million in revenue, operating mainly in its domestic market while also supplying the United Arab Emirates, Poland, Greece and Latvia.

The integration will enable Cotecnica to accelerate the development of its brands in Italy, identified as a strategic market. In 2025, Cotecnica recorded €169.2 million in turnover, a 7% increase, with international markets accounting for 66% of pet food sales.

The agreement ensures the continuity of Life Natural, preserving its brand structure and the full team. According to David Sánchez, Cotecnica’s general manager, the acquisition represents “a major leap in scale across Europe” and strengthens the cooperative’s commitment to quality, natural nutrition and added value.

Cotecnica, made up of ten cooperatives from Catalonia, Aragon and Castile and León, currently employs 190 people and offers 250 pet food products, including 208 under the Ownat brand.
