Cotecnica drives its international expansion with the acquisition of the Italian Life Pet Care

Cotecnica has taken a decisive step in its international growth strategy with the acquisition of Life Pet Care, an Italian company specialising in pet nutrition and closely linked to the Life Natural brand. With this operation, the Bellpuig‑based cooperative strengthens its position in one of Europe’s most significant pet food markets and gains access to a fully established commercial structure.

Life Pet Care closed 2025 with revenues exceeding €40 million, concentrating most of its activity in Italy, while also operating in markets such as the United Arab Emirates, Poland, Greece and Latvia. For Cotecnica, integrating the company provides a direct route to accelerating the expansion of its brands in a country where the pet food and pet care market reached €5.3 billion in 2025, according to the Assalco‑Zoomark report. Dog and cat food accounted for €4.2 billion, in a context marked by a rising number of companion animals and growing demand for high‑quality products.

The cooperative from Lleida enters this operation after consolidating sustained growth: in 2025 it reached €169.2 million in turnover, a 7% increase compared with the previous year. Its pet food division, built around the Ownat brand, has become one of the pillars of its business and international projection.

Cotecnica will maintain Life Pet Care’s activity, brand structure and workforce, integrating its identity into an expansion project aimed at strengthening the group’s European presence. The acquisition forms part of a broader internationalisation strategy designed to open new markets and consolidate existing ones, in a sector undergoing significant transformation and marked by the increasing relevance of specialised channels and e‑commerce.
