Symrise invests in Bond Pet Foods to advance sustainable innovation in pet nutrition

Symrise has made a strategic equity investment in Bond Pet Foods, a US‑based biotechnology company specialising in precision fermentation to produce animal‑identical proteins for pet nutrition. The partnership strengthens Symrise’s commitment to developing next‑generation, sustainable ingredients and supports the diversification of its pet food portfolio in response to rising demand for responsible and resilient sourcing.

Through this collaboration, Symrise will leverage Bond’s proprietary fermentation platform to address key industry challenges, including supply‑chain continuity and the need for high‑quality alternative proteins. Both companies will co‑develop a new ingredient designed to complement Symrise’s existing offering and provide pet food manufacturers with innovative, high‑performance nutritional solutions.

Symrise highlights that this investment accelerates its biotechnology strategy, enhancing long‑term competitiveness and expanding opportunities for customer‑driven innovation. Bond Pet Foods, founded in 2017, has advanced its platform through multiple development agreements, combining yeast fermentation with food science to create proteins that meet the nutritional needs of dogs and cats while supporting a more sustainable food system.

Bond supplies these ingredients for use in pet food, treats and supplements, backed by investors across biotechnology, ingredients and pet nutrition.
