Piab presents a unique gripper solution for automating the palletising of wet pet food

Piab, the Swedish group specialising in vacuum automation, has unveiled a new application designed specifically for wet pet food lines, where a single gripper can perform all key palletising and depalletising operations for pouches and trays. The solution, developed in collaboration with CFT Group, combines flexibility, high hygiene standards and operational efficiency.

The line integrates two robotic islands that use the same gripping system in two different functions. In the loading phase, the gripper inserts the doypacks into trays and creates stacks ready for sterilisation. In the unloading phase, it takes the trays from the autoclave, releases them onto a conveyor and deposits the pouches onto a second belt.

At the heart of the application is the Kenos KVG60 suction pad system, configured with BGX suction cups, one of Piab‘s most effective solutions for bags and flexible packaging. The company points out that these pads can be configured with foam or suction cups, and that the distance between them can be adjusted according to the format, allowing them to adapt to any handling requirement on pet food lines.
